When freelancing in my hometown in Italy, I curated visual communications for the film festival Sentieri nel Cinema, for four consecutive years.
Each year, the event revolves around a different theme and features a retrospective of both blockbusters and independent films.
From a creative point of view, each edition presented the challenge of looking fresh and innovative, whilst respecting a cultural institution at the time in its second decade.
My innovative point was the use of images which were not necessarily taken from films, but related to the theme by a more filmic, bewildering impression. I also created bespoke logotypes in order to strenghten the identity of each event and accurately chose fonts to emphasise the subject of the festival.
An unusual reward for this work was the positive feedback of longtime followers of the initiative, moviegoers who regard posters and catalogues of the festival as collectibles.
